Every student who undertakes nationally recognised vocational education and training (VET) in Australia (or overseas from an Australian-registered provider) will be able to access their enrolment and achievement record from a single authoritative source.

Currently, it is not possible for students to get a complete record of their VET enrolment and achievement history online from one place.

A USI is effectively an account or reference number made up of numbers and letters.  The USI will allow all of an individual’s training records, entered in the national vocational education and training (VET) data collection, to be linked. The USI will make it easier for students to find, collate and authenticate their VET achievements into a single transcript. It will also ensure that students’ VET records are not lost. The USI will be available online and at no cost to the student. This USI will stay with the student for life and be recorded with any nationally recognised VET course that is undertaken from when the USI comes into effect.

The USI consists of 10 alpha-numeric characters (For example: 3AW88YH9U5). The alpha characters are always displayed in upper case but are not case sensitive when entered.

USI transcripts will incorporate the student name, training provider name, unit of competency details and the qualification achieved.

In TEAMS, you can do the following:-

  • If the student has an existing USI number then you can add it directly in the Student Entry Screen. For more information, click here.
  • If students don’t have a USI number issued to them and you wish to generate the USI. Then, you can submit a request from TEAMS. For more information, click here.
